2008 Colored Angora Goat Kids

Our 2008 Angora Kids have arrived.
Most of Steam Valley's Colored Angora Goats are from the black/gray/reverse badger gene pool also referred to as recessive gene pool. Our herd typically throws kids that are black, gray, silver-blue, cream, spotted, reverse badger, badger and white.

For 2008, we used two bucks in breeding season. Herdsire, Angelo, is a spectacular faded red buck out of Greta Dice's colored breeding. Angelo bred our white color carrier does as well as a few black does. Angelo's offspring in 2006 & 2007 were white, faded red, brown, reverse badger and a black reverse badger with a belt.

Arthur Weasley is a taupe badger buck who is new this year. He covered the rest of our colored Angora does. His fleece is particularily fine and curly. Arthur is also a Greta Dice buck from Persimmon Tree Farm in Glen Rock, PA.

Adult Angora Does For Sale
We have several older does that are ready to retire to good homes. Two are non-breeders and two are pushing the upper age limit for kidding again. Our preference is to place them in pairs. They are priced very reasonable. Good homes without a lot of competition from other livestock is our number one requirement for placing these girls.
Contact Phylleri for details about these Angora does.

Border Leicester Lambs for 2008
Our Border Leicester and Border Leicester cross ewes were bred to a new Border Leicester ram. The fleece on our new ram is fine and has excellent lock definition. Alas, his fertility didn't match the quality of his fleece. We only have 4 lambs this year. The ewe lambs are for sale.

Ewe lambs are $175.
One is dark brown and huge.
The other is black and white and very cute!
Contact Phylleri for details.

Jacob Sheep

We no longer have Jacob Sheep. We will gladly refer you to other breeders who have continued our lines.

Nubian Goats
Nubian kids are sold out for 2008.

Our Nubians are pastured with the Angoras during the summer on rotational paddocks. After their kids are weaned, we milk our Nubbies for milk for the table, and to make yogurt, goat cheese and hand cranked ice cream. Health history and herd management for sustainable raising of livestock is freely discussed. When you are tired of chasing those cute but impossible to catch Angora goat kids, we go to the Nubian pen to be climbed on by the affectionate dairy goat kids.

Farm Tours
We offer free 1 hour tours of the farm if you would like to come visit. Call ahead to schedule an appointment.
