Summer Internships at the Farm

Steam Valley offers a summer internship program that encompasses both sustainably raising small ruminants with fiber arts from the fleeces raised at the farm. Interns are immersed in farm life; from morning chores and milking the goats, to making goat cheese and spinning yarn. Experience the full range of farm experiences from fencing and barn cleaning to gardening and washing fleeces. Learn how to raise dairy goats, fiber goats and sheep in a sustainable manner. Explore the world of fiber through spinning and dyeing.
Program requirements include a written application, references and an interview. Interns must be 18 years of age or older and in good health with the stamina to do farmwork. Previous farming or fiberarts experience is a plus. The summer internship is a minimum 8 week commitment. Perks include housing, farm dinners, lots of goat cheese to eat and fiber to spin. Read our newsletter page for experiences of previous farm interns. http://steamvalleyfiber.com/shop/Newsletter2.html
