Steam Valley Fiber Farm raises Colored Angora Goats, Border Leicester Sheep and Nubian Goats. We farm sustainably, feeding our livestock certified organic grain and minerals, local hay, pasture and maintain herd health using nutrition, herbs and homeopathy.Our herd/flock goals are to raise fine fleeced animals that are vigorous and have parasite resistance.
Our 2010 Angora herdsire is Kid Hollow's Owen, a red buck whose genetic influence resulted in many red and brown kids out of our does. In just 6 days, all our Angoras kidded, producing 23 kids.The 2010 Angora kids For Sale list has beem posted. We are now accepting reservations.
Mahogany, our flocksire for 2010, is a Morrit Corriedale ram from Gurdy Run Fiber Mill. Steam Valley's ewes are Border Leicester crosses with Corriedale and Jacob in some of their backgrounds. They provide excellent spinning fleeces for our roving blends, yarn and socks. Lambs that are for sale are posted on our 2010 For Sale List.
Our five Nubian does, Luna, Blackberry, Cinnamon, Snowdrop and Rosemary are all decendants of Tessia, our first Nubian doe. They are all bred to Maxwell, a registered spotted black buck. Nubian kids are all being weaned by early June and are ready to leave the farm. See the sale list for details.
