Steam Valley Fiber Farm raises Colored Angora Goats, Border Leicester Sheep and Nubian Goats. We farm sustainably, feeding our livestock certified organic grain and minerals, local hay, pasture and maintain herd health using nutrition, herbs and homeopathy. Our herd/flock goals are to raise fine fleeced animals that are vigorous and have parasite resistance.
Our 2011 Angora herdsire is Persimmon Tree Farm's TinMan, a black buck whose produced a variety of colored kids out of our does. We are now accepting reservations.
Harry Potter, our flocksire for 2011, is a black Border Leicester ram from Glenfidditch Farm in Mansfield, PA. Steam Valley's ewes are Border Leicester crosses with Corriedale and Jacob in some of their backgrounds. They provide excellent spinning fleeces for our roving blends, yarn and socks. Lambs that are for sale are posted on our 2011 For Sale List.
Our Nubian does, Luna, Blackberry and Rosemary all threw triplets! They are all bred to Maxwell, a registered spotted black buck. Early born Nubian kids are already weaned and are ready to leave the farm. See the sale list for details.
