Steam Valley hand dyes all our own yarn. The demand for our yarn outstrips the fiber production of our farm, so we purchase mill spun yarn and dye it in our dye kitchen. We have standardized and named 60 colorways over the past two years.Our 20 most popular colorways are listed below . If you purchase our yarn and want to order more of the same type and color, be sure to save your tag with the name of the colorway and lot number. Dye lots are one of a kind because they are hand-dyed, so be sure to purchase enough for your project.
Our Annual Spring Farm Tour is April 20th from 10 am - 3 pm. The tour is free and open to the public. Arrive any time during open hours to see the goat kids at play. Watch the Angora & Nubian goats cavort in the pasture and the sheep dreaming about the grass that should be ready for grazing at the start of May. We'll have spinning and weaving demonstrations. Our shop will be open with fiber, yarn, socks and spinning supplies for sale. Hope you can come visit us.
